Miracles of the Quran, Scientific Interpretations – Sorat At-Tariq [86:12] And by the Earth of Fissure
{ وَٱلأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ } * { إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ } * { وَمَا هوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ } *
[86:12] and [by] the earth of fissures, [86:13] assuredly it is a decisive word, [86:14] and it is not a jest.
I will begin by stating the exact meaning of the related words, because transaltion can sometimes be misleading, Sad3 صدع [singular], in Arabic terms is defined as “a crack in solid material that does not cause separation”. The nearest term in English is fissure noun[singular]: “A long, narrow crack or opening in the face of a rock. Fissures are often filled with minerals of a different type from those in the surrounding rock.”
In Sorat At-Tariq, The almighty claimed that the words of the Quran are decisive by stating that the earth has a single fissure or crack, and this leaves us with the question: where is this fissure? and what makes this fissure worth putting at risk the entire faith; Allah – the creator, Mohammad the messenger, the Quran and Islam? To be convincing, this fissure has to be long enough in such a way that if we look at the entire planet earth from a distance, we will be able to clearly see such fissure or crack - a clear marker.
It was not until the 1950s that the Atlantic ocean floor was mapped using sonar (Click here to see it on Google Maps), this revealed what is now known as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a 16,000 Kilometer long fissure in the middle of the Atlantic ocean 7,700 meters deep.
Revealed fourteen centuries ago when no man new what the Atlantic ocean is or what earth looked like at the bottom of the ocean from a distance, Allah through his messenger; Mohammad, attested the genuity of the Islam by something that no one could see or even comprehend, a crack in the ocean floor that almost cuts the entire planet “earth” in half and then extends to reach the other oceans. A miracle timed for us to see and unerstand, a miracle that tells us that Allah is true and Mohammad is his messenger, a miracle that tells us that every soul has a keeper that writes down all the good and bad things that we do in life, this book will be handed to us on the day of resurection either in our right hand or from behind our back depending on the score. The Almighty associated faith with doing good deeds in the Quran in 58 different places, and to win is to do both, and this is what sorat At-tariq is all about.
The video below shows what really happens down there and an illustration of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Do you still remember the definition of Fisser: Fissures are often filled withminerals of a different type from those in the surrounding rock!
